38th Annual Rappahannock River Waterfowl Show

The show is about many forms of art and waterfowl heritage. It's not about the latest hunting gear and equipment.

The 38th Annual Rappahannock River Waterfowl Show is set for March 18 and 19 at the
White Stone Firehouse. A wide variety of wildfowl art including original paintings, prints,
decorative carvings, working decoys, folk art carvings, photography, bronze sculpture,
jewelry and carving supplies will be available. Over 75 exhibitors from 9 states will be
participating.

Color prints of a new painting by Artist of the Year, Grover Cantwell of Salisbury, MD,
will be given away each day to show visitors. Preview Night guests will receive a signed
and numbered copy of this print. The Preview Night door prize is an original carving by
David Davis of Williamsburg. The weekend door prize is an original painting by Janet
Hong of Chesapeake.

Some of the other exhibitors include Vince Ciesielski of Harrisburg, PA, Art LaMay of
Palm Coast, FL, Jim Wilson of Yorktown, John Obolewicz of Powhatan, William Redd
Taylor of Newport News, Wayne Baker of Richmond, Chuck Robertson of Linville Falls,
NC, BIll Bolin of Midlothian, David Turner of Onley, Jane Partin of South Chesterfield
and Mathews, Guy Crittenden of Richmond, Nancy Richards West of Chincoteague,
and Charles Jobes of Havre de Grace, MD.

The Old Dominion Retriever Club will have retriever demonstrations at 2:00 on Saturday 
and Sunday, and the club will have an informational exhibit at the show.
The first, second and third place winners in the 2017 Virginia Migratory Waterfowl
Conservation Stamp contest will be on display for the first time all weekend. The Best in
Show entries from the 2016 Federal Junior Duck Stamp program will be displayed in a
special exhibit from the US Fish and Wildlife Service, who will also have an exhibit at
the show.

The Rappahannock Carvers Guild will have their annual wildfowl carving contest on Sat,
March 18. Judging will begin at 11:00 in the White Stone Women’s Club building next
door to the firehouse.

The Virginia Waterfowler’s Association will again have a special area for hands-on
activities for children, ages 6 and up, on Saturday and Sunday.

The Northern Neck Audubon Society will have a special display and sell bluebird boxes.
Sponsors of the show are W.F. Booth and Son, Inc for the show prints, Bank of
Lancaster and Bay Trust, Rappahannock Rentals, Paul Sciacchitano and Welby
Saunders of Wells Fargo, Lawler Real Estate, Coloryn Studio, B.W. Wilson Paper
Company, Currie Funeral Home, and Willaby’s.

Lunch is available both days with a special area for eating.
The show’s hours are 10 to 5 on Saturday, March 18 and 10 to 4 on Sunday, March 19.
Admission is $8 and is good for both days, children under 12 are admitted free with an
adult. All proceeds benefit the White Stone Volunteer Fire Department.
